Training course dates for September are confirmed:

Monday 6th of September 6-9pm

Wednesday 8th of September 6-9pm
Thursday 9th of September 6-9pm

Basic espresso, milk texturing and a run through of dosing tools, collapsing and grinder tuning. Cost $135 includes manual. Places limited - to book - email padre@padrecoffee.com.au

The Brunswick East Project (home of Padre Coffee) is now open 7 days - Mon-Sat 7:30am-4pm and Sunday 8:30am-4pm.

It's offical, Padre (or The Brunswick East Project - our home) has been in operation for over two years. How many t-shirts is that James ...?
Our Kenyan microlots have finally arrived, due out on the floor later this month and much anticipated. Some unusual coffees on the table to spread our singles offering a bit wider in the coming weeks, a Haitian coffee, some Malawi and a Tanzanian. Followed up by the microlot kenyans, some honey process costa ricans and then into the indian stock of pulp sundrieds, it's going to be a busy few months.

Our green storage has expanded and is about to take a whooping load of current crop singles.
Training course dates to be announced soon, first/second week of September are onthe cards, for bookings and details - email padre@padrecoffee.com.au.

Bikes !

James is off to San Francisco for a holiday.... and some coffee. Meanwhile we're all back on deck, bikes neatly stacked on the tiny Brunswick East footpath and I think telstar bakery is back in the black supplying us all with lunch.
The new indian crop is cupping up a treat - sundried natural - sweet, mild acidity and some serious body. Costa Rican microlots floating around the stores at the moment and don't tell jamie but we have a couple of panama's back for a change.

working on getting some new eco friendly packaging at the moment - but finding this a road much less travelled. drowning in foil and plastic.

Lots going on at the moment - with school holidays here and then... gone, we've taken the opportunity to score some spare time for the little things - new padre logo being released this month - with our delivery van the first to have the badge applied - look out for our shop front being slicked up soon.

Jonesys milk arrived at our south melbourne store a couple of weeks ago - with our first Jonesys delivery at our brunswick store today ! Unhomgenised milky goodness ! check them out - http://www.jonesysdairyfresh.com/

The Padre Madison was a sucess with some massive competition at DISC, while concurrent events with Thompson and Larsen and Scopri were equally sucessful.

We slow down now for a month while we get staff holidays out of the way, await our two new slayers and plan our city store setup. New coffees touch down this month with the arrival of our micro lot kenyans and our indian crop arriving last week.

A busy week....

A busy week at padre. Tuesday night is the 2nd Annual Padre Madison at DISC - see http://brunswickcyclingclub.com/post/2010/06/2010-padre-madison/ for more details - Padre will be there serving coffee for a gold coin donation. Look out for spot prizes and the crazy world of fixed wheel track riding.

At the same time in Carlton Scopri (see www.scopri.com.au ) will be hosting their second Cheese Night with Giorgio Linguanti From That’s Amore Cheese and La Latteria. The sold out event entails five courses of cheese with matching wines and a demonstration of the art of hand stretched mozzarella.

Thursday sees our first night devoted solely to Tea. This is an information and cupping night with David Thompson of Larsen Thompson teas and includes some rare and unusual teas. Otto - Craig Hiron will be in store this weekend - 10am12pm at South Melbourne Market and 2pm-4pm at The Brunswick East Project to Demo the Otto

Last Chance for a padre training course until August ! There are spaces left next week - Wed June 23rd and Thursday June 24th. Following that no courses until August (due to cupping/research/new projects). Email padre@padrecoffee.com.au to book a place.

Larsen Thompson Tea tasting coming up July 1st at The Brunswick East Project, David has warned us that he's bringing out some'crazy' teas, limited spaces available and a rare and interesting cupping event - email padre@padrecoffee.com.au to book a place - cost is $10. Second night to be confirmed at South Melbourne Market, stay tuned for details.

Cupping & Syphon Night

We're holding a beginners guide to Syphon night (so for all of you out there who have seen one but haven't tried using one - come along and try a brew for yourself).

Where ? 789 Sydney Road (in the foyer of Back in Motion Physiotherapy)
When? Thursday 10th of June 6pm to 8pm.

This is the beginners guide to Syphon Coffee, will be running through a few tips and points and of course have a go yourself while you are there. Will also be cupping some new coffees and of course some espresso blend we are trialling.

Cakes, Soup and Coffee

Sweeties, Darling ! Our friends at Appetite Catering are treating us well - the muffins are glorious, the cup cakes not only good looking but scrumptious, the breakfast tarts... divine. Soup has recently become an item of interest and trials are going well.

New Coffees arriving soon, including our Indian shipment - a long time coming but it will be here soon, alongside this a number of Kenyan microlots and we are finally ready to start our Costa Rican journey with a solid line up of single estate microlots ready to roast. Keep an eye out for them hitting the stores late May.
